Screenings
Dear Parents,
As stated in the Middletown Township Parent/Student handbook, children are screened for hearing, vision, height, weight and blood pressure. Parents will be notified if there is a deviation from the norm in any of these assessments, which are conducted throughout October, November and December.
All fifth graders, who are ten years of age, will be assessed in January or February for scoliosis. which is a curvature of the spine. A letter will precede the screening and parents may opt out by signing the bottom of the form and returning it to school before the date indicated on the form.
Classes will also be checked for head lice when there is a report of a child with an infestation, or at the request of the teacher. Classroom(s) of sibling will also be monitored for lice. The parent will be notified if their child is found to have live lice or nits. After treatment and upon return to school, the student will be evaluated in the health office before returning to class.
Please call the health office if you have further questions.
Thank you.
